I feel like we’re at the start of the end of an era. An era, in which the user data was exploited and privacy was violated on a daily basis. The future holds more opportunities in experimental marketing campaigns.
We still spend a lot of money on platforms like Facebook, Google, TikTok, Twitter, and more. However, the attribution crisis that started with iOS 14.5 showed us that it’s only going to get harder to measure the ad performance from here.
In a few years, I think community-driven marketing will be in a much more prominent place. This approach would require marketers to get in touch with influencers, streamers, YouTubers, SubReddit admins, Discord admins, and much more.
My solution to this shift in global trends would be
a) If you’ve built a product: using paid acquisition to build your community & sponsoring and engaging with communities
b) If you’ve yet to build a product: start being active in related communities prior to launch and build your network around community “super-stars”.
Your guess is as good as mine.
